It’s Las Vegas Restaurant Week! For those of you who are unfamiliar, this event allows patrons to enjoy fixed-price menus at some of the best restaurants in town with a portion of the proceeds going to the Three Square Food Bank to help feed the hungry in Southern Nevada. Since its inception nine years ago, over 2.5 million meals have been provided by proceeds earned during Restaurant Week. This year, Las Vegas Restaurant Week runs from June 15th to the 26th.
I kicked Las Vegas Restaurant Week off with a “BAM!” and went to Emeril Lagasse’s Delmonico Steakhouse located in The Venetian for the $30.15 three-course lunch. This destination is one of my favorites during Restaurant Week because their burger is, by far, one of the best I’ve ever eaten and if you were to buy at any other time, it would cost $23, alone, without an appetizer or dessert. So, you are saving money, helping a good cause, and getting an excellent meal on top of it. Win, win, win!
Appetizer options during Restaurant Week include heirloom tomato soup, Caesar salad, heirloom tomato salad, or an organic baby mixed green salad. Knowing that the burger is huge, I opted to select a lighter appetizer. The organic baby mixed greens salad with Creole-spiced croutons, sherry vinaigrette, and shaved Manchego cheese was the perfect first course.
For my entrée, I selected Delmonico’s Steak Burger. If you are looking for a delicious, classic bacon cheeseburger, this is my go-to burger for Restaurant Week. The juicy, ground steak burger is served on a toasted brioche roll with all of the toppings on the side so you can customize it as you wish. Choose from mayonnaise, butter lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, and thinly shaved red onion to create your own masterpiece. The thick chunk of cheddar is melted just enough so you can taste the flavor of the cheese and bacon when biting into the burger. If my estimation skills are as sharp as I think they are, this burger probably tops the scale at close to a food-coma inducing pound. The fries? They are great, too! They are served piping hot and crispy in their own little parchment-lined stainless steel cup.
For dessert, the bread pudding with warm caramel pecan sauce stole my heart. There’s just something to be said about a warm dessert at the end of a meal.
